Hi we have a small network, Windows 2000 domain, 15 PC's,
Win98 and Windows 2000 Pro, and Win XP Pro. there is a
Windows XP Pro PC that has a local printer attached to it,
and we need another PC beside it which is a Win98 PC to be
able to print to it. We have shared the printer from the
XP machine. When logging into the 98 PC, going to install
the printer, it sees it in the network, its able to ping
it by IP and by computer name, but it cannot connect to
it, it says it needs a password I cant recall the exact
error message but its something like
this.... "\\computername\hplaserjet1000\IPC$"
weird thing is when I am logged onto the XP PC as 'john'
and I log onto the 98 PC as 'john' then it works fine, as
soon as I log onto the 98 PC with a different user
account, it doesnt work.
any help is appreciated.
