I am upgrading Windows XP Home to Pro. on my NEW laptop.
It is currently at installing devices 34 minutes left, it has been stuck
at this message for 50 minutes! The screen is still scrolling the different
features of the OS and the little squares in the lower right corner are
still rolling/flashing but I do not see any HD activity or CD activity.
Am I stuck? What should I do?
My system is
HP zd7000
2.66 ghz
512 RAM
60 Gig hd
Geforce4
original os WinXP Home

What is the speed of the processor and the size of the HD?
I have a DeskBook P4 1.4 and it took me over a half hour.

Hi,

You could also try removing all non-essential hardware
(modem, addition CD/DVD drives, sound card ...). Sometimes
setup can get stuck but if you connect hardware later the
Plug'n'Play detects it ok.

Another option is to flash your BIOS to latest version. I
had a nightmare setup once and spent ages trying to get it
to work. No luck until I decided to flash the motherboard
BIOS.

Good luck,

Regards,

Tim
