Windows XP Pro setup hangs

I have a problem reloading Windows XP Pro after installing a new BIOS chip (I destroyed the old one with the wrong flash) and a used hard drive. The CD boots, and then the drive stops running a few seconds later at the screen "Setup is loading files (Kernel Debugger DLL)". This happens the same way whether I use the CD as boot device, or when using the boot diskette set I downloaded from Microsoft. I don't know if it will make any difference, but here are the particulars of my system: Epox P55TV MOBO with Pentium S CPU (133 MHz), Quantum Fireball 6GB hard drive, WD (I think) 4 GB hard drive, a Plextor CDRW and another CDROM. I'm sure I have set something incorrectly, but I've been staring at it too long to see it anymore. Please help!

You may want to try disconnecting one of the cdrom drives and hard
drive. Do you have enough Ram?

Argus, 128MB is barely enough to get it going. Even 256MB is considered
Ram deficient for WinXP.
If your ram is just a little flaky XP will not install.

I have been going to PERVERSE extremes to avoid settling on that same conclusion, but I'm afraid you're right. This machine has long been the poster child for the local "Go-with-what-you've-got" program, but I guess it's time to ask for a boost in the parts budget........... Thanks, Rich
