No, you can not use someone else's CD.
You need to use the system provided by your computer manufacturer.
Most provide a CD, others use a hidden partition on the hard drive.
Check your manual and/or contact the manufacturer for options.

Hi Adi,

No Problem, if your system is windows xp pro.
you can use this CD to correct the system.

Actually there is a problem.
This is clearly an OEM computer.
Unless the friend has the same make odn model, the CD will not work.

Depends on the problem and the manufacturer actually. Certain files will
work but not straight from the CD - the CD will only work from Add/Remove
programs and Removing/Installing Windows components. To rerun the system
setup would obviously not work.

However, most manufacturers do not supply a Windows disk anymore, but a
recovery disk. This is only good for recovering your system but you loose
all your data because the hard drives are reformatted in the process. Check
on your computer for an I386 directory or the old OPTIONS directory.

No ! No ! you can use this CD to reinstall the system.
The CD will not check your hardware. You just need to know
CD-Key. It can be search from internet. I alsway download xp ISO file
and burn to CD. Take it to install on many computer. It was running so
good.

Wrong.
Not if it is OEM CD for that computer.
Most OEM CDs DO check to make sure it is the proper computer.
Normally the BIOS is checked.

ISO image is something completely different.
Where do you download an ISO image?

You seem to be comparing 2 completely different things and expecting
them to be the same...they are not the same.

Do you know windows OEM ver CD will not check the hardware.
Other software like Nero OEM ver, it will check your CD recorder when
you run it

In directory C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles I found i386 directory. Can I use
this one for correction of my OS.

What type of OEM CD?
Some do and some don't check for hardware.

You never answered my other question.
Where do you download an ISO image?
