I have an underscore in my e-mail address. When I type
the e-mail address in my heading for letter head Windows
automatically underlines the address and obliterates the
underscore. Therefore the recipent cannot see the
underscore which make the address useless. Does anyone
know how to defeat the default?

Here's a little trick. Type your email address in the header, then hit
enter, it underlines the email address. Then highlight the whole address,
hit the underline icon on the toolbar (to actually underline the text), then
click the underline icon again and the underline disappears.

Various ways, see Autoformat in help. Press Ctrl + Z when a change occurs and it will be undone and not redone.
