I hope I am allowed one elementary question from time to time. I
recently loaded Windows XP on my system after years of living in the
Windows 98SE world. In my previous world, I was informed that it was
not a good idea to leave items in the Temp folder. I was told that
immediately after startup I was to go to Start>Run>type in %temp%>click
OK. On the next page that appeared I was supposed to click Select All
under Edit and then Delete. That seemed to keep things fairly clean on
my old 98SE system.
Is it wise to remove items from this folder (i.e.,
C:\Docume~1\Barb~1\Locals~1\Temp) on WindowsXP?
Also, what are the other areas that should be cleaned up after a new
install (one that included installing Service Pack 2 and the many other
Windows XP updates)?
Is there a web page that covers this and other routine maintenance I
should do while using Windows XP? I have looked without success so far
for such a page.
I would appreciate any helpful ideas you might have for this new
Windows XP Pro user.
Thanks,
Barb
