Windows XP Pro installation

I am building a new computer and i have a Windows XP Pro Student media CD. My
question is can I use th existing COA on my old PC to validate the
installation of the student media XP on my new computer? My old computer did
not come with Windows XP CD's or i would just install that and upgrade to pro
with my student media.
