Hi,

Recently my Hard Drive experienced a problem, wherein it
used to say no space on Hard Drive, my 80GB drive was
completely full suddenly for no reason. I tried deleting
few programs but still drive would come back to 80 GB full
indicator. I presume it should be virus, couldn't check
though as it would not allow me to run any applications.

Finally, I had to format my Hard drive and tried to
reinstall XP Pro competely again. Initially it did not got
installed properly and I am surprise to learn that
complete installtion is taking over 15 hrs. As of now I
have installed XP Pro and then SP1, but my machine is
running very slow. Any mouse click takes long time to
initiate the action. It takes more than 8-10 minutes for
the windows to come up at a point where we get users
screen. Also everytime the CPU usage is 100%.

I don't whether did I went wrong in Installation or it
there something I am missing.

So far Haven't installed Anti Virus and ran it. Which I
intend to do it today. But I beleive that once the hard
drive is formatted, there are no trace of viruses on the
machine.

Could any expert please help on this one. How can I make
my machine efficient as it was earlier. Configuration of
my machine is P4 - 2.4Ghz, 512MB DDR Ram, 80 GB HD.

Any reply asap will be appreciated, as I have spent more
than three times reinstalling the XP Pro.

Regards,

Sanshah

With a decent hard drive XP should only take about 30 minutes to install.
Did you use any Drive Installation
Software that came with the 80G drive? Try doing a clean install of
WinXP. Choose new install and Advanced. It will allow you to delete the
partitions. Do it and create new ones. Format and you should be Ok.
