I installed Windows XP on my computer and it boots up 4 or
5 times and then it starts to hang on the scroll screen.
The scroll bar goes across on the screen but the computer
doesn't boot. I wrote to this message board 2 times
without a response. Could someone please help me. I have
tried to reinstall XP and then it works again for about 5
or so boots. My Safe mode works with networking. I have
followed all of the msconfig steps with no success and
reinstalled my video drivers. In addition I have turned
off all unnecessary drivers. Nothing works. Could there
be a problem with my boot.ini file.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

sounds like you have gone through a fair bit of troubleshooting. The
things I would try include (just skip if you have already done it):

1, stop all programs from starting (in msconfig)
2, update all drivers (including NIC, etc. not just video)
3, update IE to IE6 (not really applicable in WinXP)
4, boot from Windows CD, and get into recovery console. Run chkdsk /f
5, check for faulty hardware (RAM may be a good place to start)
6, remove any cards that are unnecessary to booting (NIC, video
capture, etc)
7, try reloading Win from scratch (on a separate HDD if possible)
