I Upgraded From Windows 98 SE. I Cannot Access Add Remove Program Module. The
Icon Is There, But Nothing Happens When I Click On It. I Changed My View Of
Control Panel To Original View And The Add Remove Programs Module Isnt
Listed. It Only Shows On The New View Of The Control Panel. If This Is A File
Missing I Would Like To Know What The File Is And The Easiest Way To Install
It.

Uninstall Windows XP and create a dual-boot system with Windows 98 and
XP. Reinstall your applications in Windows XP (reinstall from here on
top of the existing files). Remove Windows 98 when you are done. This
will let you get a better result than upgrading.

Add or Remove Programs is appwiz.cpl.

Start | Run | Type or paste: appwiz.cpl | Click OK

Does Add or Remove Programs open?

appwiz.cpl should be in ...

C:\WINDOWS\system32
and
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache

APPWIZ.CP_ the compressed version of appwiz.cpl is on the XP CD in the
:\I386 folder.

You can use the System Configuration Utility (msconfig.exe) to Expand the
file.

Start | Run | Type: msconfig | Click OK |
Click on the General Tab in the box that appears and press the Expand File
button.
