Bill

I am trying to load Windows XP on a friends computer.
originally, the Pc did not have any OS. I tried to load
Windows XP Pro and it hangs on the start up before it
gives you the option to go to the repair screen. I let
it wait all night without any change. I then loaded
Win98SE and that loaded fine. I ran the Windows XP
hardware checker and it came up clean. I ran Mcafee and
it also came up clean. I then tried to upgrade the 98SE
to XP Pro. It loaded fine and then the computer
restarted like it was suppose to. Then at the same spot
it hung again. Does anyone have any idea where to go
next?

Thanks

Try installing xp cd,boot to cd,install xp,select, format over 98,then let xp
reboot, ans install.Once the reformat is selected xp does the rest.
