Windows XP Pro and Home on seperate partitions

Used Partition Magic to create a new partition for a boot
install of WINXP PRO (install new OS wizard). While
installing PRO I received a message that the partition I
created with Partition Magic wasn't 'usable' but that I
could delete it and use the available space to create
another...which I did. Now when I start the machine it
does not have a dual boot window in BIOS and it
automatically starts PRO. This would be great if I just
wanted to use PRO.. I could delete the other partition
(with Home version) and combine the space... but, I
actually want to migrate all those files saved on that
partition. Is there a way to 'see' those files with the
PRO OS running and then move/copy/burn those files that
are on the Home OS partition? I only have an OEM Rescue
Disk set for the Home version, so reinstalling it or
using it for startup is not an option without
reformatting the entire harddrive. Any ideas?

If you are talking about one hard drive with two partitions, then the second one with XP Home is probably gone. If you used Partition Magic,
and allowed the XP Pro install to delete a partition then all references to the Home partition are probably lost.

If you cannot see the data on the XP Home second partition, from within XP Professional...it is most likely gone.

A utility called Disk Probe could be used to recreate the second partition entries in the Master Boot Record, and you may get you data
back. It is pretty cryptic stuff though.
