I was a member of a website that required a username and password but I
allowed my menbership to lapse . Since then I have been unable to gain
access to beyond the front page of the site to access the ares not needing
a password . I have tried deleting Temp Internet Files,including off-line
content,and deleted cookies .
It could be the old username and password that is causing the problem .
Where in Windows are these kept. -anyone help ???

There is probably something wrong with the site's login
system if it won't allow you to access normal pages, but
that't not the issue, is it?
If this is an html form, you would still have to press the
button for ie to log you in.
in this case it's a cookie, so tools->internet options,
temporaty internet files settings button, view files.
if this is a header type authentication, to be honest i've
never had ie remember the password, do a search for the
user name in the registry maybe.
in the second, there a still problem with the web site, in
that non-protected areas should not check for a password.

Ive downloaded Netscape 7.1 and can gain accesss to the site using it so
there must be a problem with my IE .

Go to Control panel, User Accounts\Advanced\Manage Passwords.
Remove Stored Passwords from there.
