You can convert FAT32 to NTFS but it isn't reversible

And, using XP, is data destructive. There are 3rd party solutions that will
retain data (although a back up should be made before) and is also able to
convert back to FAT 32. I recommend Acronis Disk Director.

No it isn't. The convert.exe tool will convert a FAT32 partition to
NTFS without losing data (but it's always a good idea to back it up,
just in case). To go from NTFS to FAT32 you'll need third-party
software, like Partition Magic or others mentioned in this thread.

There is no standard procedure of doing this(NTFS to FAT32).
Partition Magic allows you to convert an NTFS partition back to FAT32.

Yes. To convert to NTFS, you use the CONVERT command. But first read
http://www.aumha.org/a/ntfscvt.htm because there's an issue regarding
cluster size that isn't obvious.

Also note that conversion is a big step, affecting everything on your drive.
When you take such a big step, no matter how unlikely, it is always possible
that something could go wrong. For that reason, it's prudent to make sure
you have a backup of anything you can't afford to lose before beginning.

and back again

No. The only way to go back again (short of destroying the partition and
starting over) is with a third-party tool such as Partition Magic.

Yes one can use the convert util to go from fat32 to ntfs but cant use
it to go back again.
