Windows XP over 2000?

I'm a very happy user of Windows 2000 Professional; however, I need
some XP driver functionality (or change hardware). I see that I can
buy XP PRofessional Upgrade or XP Professional.

First question - can I expect a clean and painless upgrade?

Second question - I'm not sure if I want the upgrade or a full kit.
Does the full kit detect an existing operating system and perform an
upgrade, or does it always perform a full install?

Thanks,

chg

Both are the same except you need to have another Windows disk at times for the upgrade version. With both you can autoplay and keep your settings, etc. Have you seen the prices at http://www.newegg.com/ ?

Greetings --

The WinXP Pro full retail CD is capable of performing both
upgrades and clean installations.

The WinXP Pro Upgrade CD is also capable of performing both
upgrades and clean installations, but requires that you verify
ownership of a qualifying earlier OS.

Economically, then, it generally makes more sense to purchase the
latter.

Thanks to both of you. I'm a fan of newegg, so I'll wander over there.
XP here I come....
