Windows XP operating system

I was cleaning up what I thought was old unused files and now I cannot
operate my windows xp system, it tells me to use my operating system disk
but I am in Florida and my disk is in Michigan any suggestions. Sounds like
I am screwed.
 
Guess you'll have to wait till your back in Michigan..........
What is the specific message you are getting when you start your laptop???

Something else to try: Press F10 during reboot and use the System
Restore option.

If you can boot to Safe Mode, run

SFC /SCANNOW
