Dear MS Newsgroup,

I am using Windows XP Home Edition with Office XP,
evreytime I close an existing Word document, without
making any changes, I am asked whether to save the
document.

Basically, I need to know whether there is an option in
Word, which will allow unedited documents not to be
prompted to be saved.

Please advise.

Does this also apply on a new, blank document (opening, closing
immediately)?
While you're talking about opening existing documents, it might be these
documents contain certain fields like date-fields or other that are aut.
updated when opening/closing.

This is only occurring on some of my documents. Nothing
special about them, they only contain standard text.

Please advise.

Without being an expert in Word, my guess is that you have made some
addition to the normal.dot template since these were created - you load
them and the addition gets incorporated; so that they *have* changed.
See what happens if you let it save the version it thinks is modified
and then load that again
