I recently got my first computer and it came with Windows
XP. I have not used a computer in many, many years and I
am getting advice from everyone. I am trying to find out
if a certain program is compatible with the XP. My
brothers' girlfriend has Microsoft Windows 2000 and she
made up some brochures for my business on her computer.
She told me to try to go into Windows/Word and it should
be there, but I can not find it so I do not believe it is
in the XP Version. Could you tell me if it is? If not
she has said that she has her CD and we could download it
into my system because I really need that application for
making brochures. My next question is would her Windows
2000 be compatible with my system which has the XP?
Someone please help!?!

Microsoft Windows is the operating system and comes in several flavours
including Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Neither has anything to do with
Microsoft Word which also comes in several flavours including Word 2000 and
Word 2002 - both of which will run under either of the operating systems.

These wordprocessors are not part of the operating systems and are separate
packages.

There is no way you can legally install your friend's copy of Word 2000 on
your PC.

The cheapest way to buy Word is to buy the Works suite containing it.
