I just got a laptop and have windows media edition. I have the remote but
for whatever reason, unless i go into the task bar and slide the adjuster,
the volume won't change when I use the remote. Even if I use the media keys
on the front of my laptop (dell insprion e1705), i cannot adjust the volume.
What is my problem?

You have the expectation that MS makes software that works as it is
supposed to.

Since I don't have a MCE computer, I don't have the answer for you but
you will get experts on that platform if you post in the Media Center
newsgroup: microsoft.public.windowsxp.mediacenter .
