Windows XP Locks or Stops Responding or Slow to Respond When Browsing File Structure

Has anyone seen an issue/solution when you select the pull down arrow to
browse the file structure and windows XP stops responding or responds very
slowly??

I've seen that happen when either on a 10-base network or your card is
10-base and there a lot of shares for it to return...and if you have a CD in
the CD Drive, it has to read the CD before returning the list...good luck.

I've also got the same problem with 160 and 250 Gig drives attached to a promise IDE controller, motherboard IDE controller does not stall. Updated motherboard BIOS, update windows driver both no help. Also with Silicon Images IDE controller card smae happens, that's why I tried the promise and got the sam results. Anybody have the same with divers under 137 Gigs
