Does any know what will cause XP to take a long time to
boot. I took a look at the startup text log NTBTLOG.TXT,
and it is 20 times larger than normal. The first 26 files
load normally, but then it is not able to load the
drivers. XP keeps tring to load the drivers or devices
(over and over) until finally it slowly loads most of
them and then works OK.

Here is a sample of what happens in NTBTLOG.TXT:
Loaded driver drvmcdb.sys
Loaded driver KSecDD.sys
Loaded driver Ntfs.sys
Loaded driver NDIS.sys
Loaded driver viaagp1.sys
Loaded driver Mup.sys
Did not load driver ACPI Uniprocessor PC
Did not load driver Audio Codecs
Did not load driver Legacy Audio Drivers
Did not load driver Media Control Devices

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

David, I am having the same trouble as you - the drivers stop loading at the "ACPI Uniprocessor PC" . There is an article in the Microsoft Technet called "boot logging" that mentions this problem and how to figure out if the file that isn't loading is corrupted. Unfortunately the ntbtlog.txt file doesn't list the file name for "ACPI Uniprocessor PC" or any of the other drivers not loaded. I'm trying to find out which file that is and hope I can fix my problem by comparing it to another copy of XP on my system and overwriting the file if it looks to be corrupted.

Have you found a solution or a better way to handle this since your post?
