I recently purchased windows XP professional.

when trying to install my computer recognizes the CDROM
drive, identifies VMI pool, then i get the message "Setup
will now inspect your hardware configuration" after that i
get a black screen indefinately. no messages, no beeps.

my hardware configuration is this:

# Antec Sonata Case
# ASUS A7N8X deluxe (rev. 2) motherboard
# AMD 3000+ cpu 400Mhz FSB
# Zalman Tech CNPS7000A-Cu CPU heatsink/fan
# 1GB (512MB sticks x2) Corsair DDR ram
# 120 GB Maxtor harddrive
# ATI 9600 pro video card
# Sony DRU-510A DVD/CD burner
# microsoft natural keyboard

i don't know what to do. any help/advice is greatly
appreciated.

i have just had the same problem and would love an answer
from anyone please... hanging up at the "Setup is now
inspecting your hardware configuration" this of course is
a brand new full version disk and the computer had 98 on
it..
