windows xp home to windwos xp pro

Hi
I just brought a brand new dell, it came with windows xp home version. I want to install windows xp pro on it. Do i have to do a clean install or can i just upgrade it with the windows xp pro cd. Any suggestions

a clean install is generally the preferred method..
