Hi, I have just installed Service Pack 2 for Microsft Windows XP Home, then I
tried to restart my PC as instructed, but now it cannot restart the operating
system in any circumstance, SAFE MODE etc! I have never had any problems with
any Microsoft Updates previously, but this time for some reason, there must
be another application interfereing with the installation. Before I
installed, I ensured that I had no Viruses or Spyware, so it is not because
of this. I have tried to repair it with the original XP disks, but it does
not give me the option to to repair my XP operating system, only to Install a
new one, which would delete all of my data, or to delete partitians. Can
someone please help me? I really do not want to loose all of my data!

In short, UNINSTALL SP2 and save your-self wasting your time in installing
and reinstalling SP2. Too many customers have same problem. I have contacted
Microsoft, the ISP, as well as DELL and their best advise is to UNINSTALL
SP2 as applications on some computers are highly customized by the original
computer manufacturer, the standard version of the latest service pack may
not be fully compatible with the computer system. Hoping to hear from any
one who might have solution for this problem.
Regards!

I am having exactly the same problem. I am running WinXP Home on an
AMD64 3200+ processor with two SATA drives in a RAID 0 configuration.
I have since learned that there is a known conflict between SP2 and
the AMD64 processors, but have not found a fix yet.

Please post the fix here if you find one. Thanks!

I have the same problem, but can't uninstall SP2 because my PC always
reboots before the Windows startup and also in safe mode because the
hard drive can't be found. I have tried the Recovery console, etc.,
but no luck due to the same problem...it can't locate or access the
hard drive so I can't do any Windows function at all.

In short, UNINSTALL SP2 and save your-self wasting your time in installing
