Windows XP Home Paint Defaults

I cannot find anywhere that describes how to alter the way Paint works.
Specifically, I always want Paint to open with the center horizontally and
vertically un checked, as well as scaling, to fit 1 page of 1 page instead
of 100 percent of normal size.

Hmm. I must preface this with my apologies - as I cannot answer your
question directly.
I cannot even say that the product replacement I am going to suggest will be
able to do what you want..
All I do know is that this is a much more full-featured alternative to the
built in Windows XP PAINT application.
And it is Free.

I really don't like answering your question in this way - I kinda feel like
a spammer/advertiser for doing it this way.. so I am going to attempt to
answer your question as well.

And in trying to do so I find that I have no idea what you are wanting or
any way to do it in the application I am assuming you meant.. Microsoft
Paint v5.1 doesn't seem to have any way to save preferences. For example,
your want for Paint to "... to open with the center horizontally and
vertically un checked ..." - I cannot even fathom what you mean by this.

I want to help you - so if you could describe a bit more what you are using
(exactly) and how you set it manually each time to do what you want -
perhaps someone (maybe even myself) could come up with some creative way of
doing what you want. It may just not be possible..

I know exactly what he means because it's driving me crazy, too. In Windows
98, using Paint, we could work on an entire sheet of 8-1/2 X 11" paper. With
Windows XP's version of Paint, you can only use the center third of the page.
There doesn't seem to be any option anywhere that will allow you to increase
the size to a full page. It also defaults to a two-page format and every
single time you want to print out your work, you have to go to Page Set-Up
and change it to "Fit to one page". When Microsoft developed XP, they really
screwed up Paint, in my opinion. I use it constantly and what I used to get
