Is it possible to put the classic theme on the logon on screen (the one where the user must type in a user name and password). I dislike the bubbly blue theme.

George:
Control Panel>User Accounts>Change the way users log on or off. Uncheck "Use
the Welcome screen". Click "Apply Options".

If you're talking about disabling the visual style for the
classic logon screen, then you need to do registry editing:
1. Go to Start>Run> then type regedt32
2. Nav to
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi
on\ThemeManager, then set the "ThemeActive" string value
to 0.
Also, if you have Service Pack 1, go to
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.
asp , then download the latest TweakUI.
After installing, open it and go to Logon>Settings, and
copy your colors, mouse settings, keyboard, screensaver,
etc. to the classic logon screen.
