Hi
Windows XP Home has screwed up - can anyone help?
Windows was not running correctly - even Norton Utilities was
not displaying system information.
So I inserted my Fujitsu Siemens XP 'product recovery disc'
to run it in REPAIR mode (I had seen here that this could be done).
What happened next horrified me.
The screen went blank - then after a while it rebooted
and the screen was like a mix of German/Italian - a sort of
'pigeon english'. Which I couldn't understand.
So I pulled the mains plug - hoping to start XP up again without
any problems. I then got a message that a certain file or whatever
was missing.
I had no choice but to reboot via the CD ROM - after 3 attempts
and a very long 'hang' the Windows screen for installing Windows
finally came up - and reinstalled Windows.
MY QUESTION;
Since it reinstalled Windows - Windows itself is working OK
BUT on my C drive (main drive) I have;
WINDOWS (my original)
WINDOWS.0
WINDOWS.1
WINDOWS.2
I have transferred a lot of files (not system files) to WINDOWS.2
WILL IT NOW BE SAFE TO REMOVE all the other OS - i.e
Windows/Windows.0/Windows.1 ?
Then can I rename Windows.2 back to Windows?
One other point - everytime I restart my system now
I get a black screen - again with pigeon english
asking me what Windows XP do I want to start.
Why is this information in pigeon english
and how can I get my system to bypass this
interruption and boot up without delay?
Thanks very much in advance - regards Stephen
