I purchased a laptop with Windows XP. The software has
missing registry files, and the computer malfunctions all
the time.

The company I purchased the computer from says they are
not responsible for the Microsoft software. All I know is
that I bought a new computer that doesn't work, and I want
it fixed.

The company I purchased the computer from told me to buy a
new copy of Windows XP and reload it on my computer. Does
that sound right? Shouldn't Microsoft send me a rescue
disk to correct the problem?

If anyone can help me with this problem, please reply.

The company u bought the computer from should of supplied u with an Windows XP OEM disk... the problem is on their side and should be fixed by them....... All software installed on your computer should have a coresponding disk to go with it...

The company you bought the computer from should make it
right. Laptops usually have Windows installed but the
version is tailored to the computer. Therefore Microsoft
doesn't support it but the computer company does. They
should have a tech line to call. Toshiba does. Can you
stop payment to that company? Name them. Tell everyone
the name of the computer as well. They should give you a
new puter or fix it perfectly.

If you bought this at a local store call the computer manufacturer and tell them what these people told you. Also the manufacturer should handle your problem also. Like the post said tell everyone where you bought this computer.
