I installed backup from the Windows XP CD-ROM supplied
with my computer. I need instructions on how to create a
backup of my critical system files to a CD. Please help.
Thanks
JP

The Backup program that ships with XP Home version does not create an ASR
(Automated System Recovery) and even if it did the file would be too large
to fit on a CD. The Backup program does not write to CD. Your best solution
is to use third party software. Programs like Norton Ghost 2003 or
Powerquest's Drive Image 2002 are very popular for creating a full system
backup directly to CD. This backup can then be restored in it's entirety in
the event of a full system crash or you can restore individual files/folders
from the image if you lost your Addressbook for example. Both Ghost and
Drive Image cost around $50 - 60 US. A lower cost alternative is Image found
