windows xp home edition problems

need to find out how to get files out of hard drive to
make disc for reinstalling windows xp home edition as i
didnt get a startup disc. also all test say everything is
working correctly but i still cant get connected to the
internet what else do i need to check. someone please help
me

You need to check with the computer manufacturer.
Different manufacturers do it different from others and some have
provisions for making a CD while others do not.
 
i did contact hp and they just said it was in the hard drive hidden but it could be gotten its just i dont have $30 to pay for one phone call to find out where its at. also do you have a answer for my 2nd question about what else to check if when running test the results are everything is working but i still cant connect to internet
 
You most likely have incompatible hardware or software.
Uninstall and antivirus and DVD software.
Disconnect all peripherals (camera, printer, scanner etc.)
Uninstall/disconnect anything else that you suspect may be the cause.

Check HPs website, there are directions for using the partition there.
Directions are probably in your documentation.

Exactly what happens when you attempt to connect to the internet?
Is your computer configured properly according to your ISP?

when i try to get online a message comes up no internet
connection. do you think my ethernet connection went bad.
what are partitions and how do i know what configurations
my computer should be set at. thank you for the help as im
ready to throw it out

Check and reseat your Ethernet connections.

That message is suggesting your internet connection is not configured.
Contact your Internet Service Provider for proper configuration.
