Hi,
I bought this windows xp home edition and i installed
it, but now i find that it says that it can only work
properly with a dell computer. I don't have a dell
computer. I have an amd athlon 1600+. I have activated
the product key. Now my question to whomever how or can
I deactivate my windows xp home edition for dell.

thx

That's your CPU model, not your PC model. Dell uses 1600+ CPUs in their
older systems. First things first, from where did you purchase this copy of
XP, from someone on eBay? If so, you need to file a complaint with eBay
*IMMEDIATELY* and report the seller. You are in possession of an OEM licence
which is BIOS-locked to a particular model of Dell system. It is against
both eBay's (and PayPal's) CoS (Conditions of Sale) which the seller would
have agreed to when he registered. All OEM licences *MUST* be sold with
their accompanying hardware - and vice versa. You're unlikely to get any joy
from the seller as he probably knew full well what he was doing and was just
out for a quick buck. I don't have the link to hand, but eBay have a form
for reporting this type of fraud (and that's what it is). I have just had a
quick look at eBay UK and found someone doing exactly the same thing
(http://tinyurl.com/s9ux). You owe it to the other people he's probably
already ripped off.

You've purchased pirated software. If this was not your intent,
contact you local law enforcement agency; you've been defrauded.

Yep, sorry youv'e bought grey market software and have
paid the price - nothing for it except to contact the
vendor for a refund and to buy a kosher copy of Windows XP
