In the last several weeks my Windows XP system has repeatedly become frozen
and the only way I can use it again is to cut off the power and power up
again. This seems to be independent of the applications although IE may be a
common feature. The system acts as though the CPU is pegged at 100%
utilitzation. I have a AMD Athlon 2100+ with 512 Mb of RAM so it should not
be limited by my hardware (typically only 2-3 apps open). When I reboot I
and goto to look at my performance I see regular spikes in my CPU with no
other app shown running. What could be causing this problem other than a bad
device driver?
