Windows XP fax phone connection

I have set up the fax in "windows professional xp". When I
try to send a fax an error message says "no dial tone"
Has anyone any suggestions on what may be the trouble with
my setup?
 
No dial tone usually means you do not have an analog fax modem plugged into
an analog phone line. Do you?
 
Russ, I have DSL setup. I just found out that it's
probable that I cannot use the fax with this system. Is
there a way around this?

If you have no analog modem or phone line, you will need to use a fee based
Internet Fax Service. Several are listed here: http://www.savetz.com/fax/

With some DSL connections you can obtain a DSL line filter suitable for
connecting a standard analog voice line to the DSL line and can then connect
an analog fax modem to that line.
