Every so often I get a Windows box to come up saying no connection to the
internet. Click here to work off line or retry. When I retry, it immediately
goes to the web page. I called Comcast and they had no answers other than to
say they have heard about this from time to time and called it a Windows
problem (false message). I have spyware and anti-virus installed. All updates
have been done and I clear out my tempoary files and history daily. This
happens only when I click on an icon or link. Everytime I am prompted to
retry it will work when I click on it. I have all working off line boxes
unchecked on all of my web pages. The frustration is how random it is.
Sometimes 3-4 in a row and then a whole day with no problems. I know some
IP'S have a time drop but I am on the computer to often top receive that. I
have wireless in my home but it is the home computer that does this. I also
unplug the router and then shortly after the modem to recycle but to no
avail. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Deek

Standard ISP cop-out.

Open IE, Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> any dialup or
VPNs listed? Can you select "Never dial a connection".

I suspect that it is, in fact, an ISP problem with poor/unreliable
signal, and that your browser is simply reacting as it should, as if
you're not connected to the net.

Assuming ADSL - filters on all phones?

Thank you! It did not have the never dial a connection checked. I have
Broadband and in the box now it says Broadband is my default connection now
after I added it. Before it was blank on the whole page with nothing
selected. This should do it don't you think? With my very limited knowledge
it just feel right after checking the box. Thanks again....
