MY HP PC is only about 7mos old. it was working fine, then we got this
message: Windows could not start successfully, etc...try and restart..normal,
safe, last known good configuration etc. everytime I clicked on one of those
it came right back up with the same messages. I tried restarting the system,
but to no avail.. I had just installed a wireless router a few days before
but everything was fine. I don't want to lose everything on my hard drive, I
have mcafee etc on the pc etc. can anyone offer any advice as to why windows
would have this message all over my screen and not let me restart etc.

Turn it off for awhile, see if that works.

You can always use the XP CD to repair your installation, nothing on
your hard drive is going anywhere.

Rule of thumb tho is the last thing you did or installed is most
likely the cause of the problem.
