Hi All,
I've just bought XP and installed it on a system that used
to run Windows 2000. I have an interesting conundrum. There
are several files I would like to delete, but windows
doesn't let me! It claims that the files are read-only. I
tried to uncheck the read-only box, and it tells me that
I'm not allowed to do so. I am logged in as an
administrator. The exact error when changing the permission is:
"An error occurred applying attributes to the file:
c:\directory\something.lnk
Access is denied."
What gives? I'm administrator. The file is not encrypted. I
can not move it, copy it or delete it, but I can rename it.
Please help, I'm at my wits end! The only thing common
between the files is that they are shortcuts, that is files
with the suffix .lnk
