I lost my Windows Xp disk sometime ago
I'm studying the MCDSt .Some of the exercises require that I use the Disk eg
creating partitions.
Is there any way I can download a copy?

You can still get Windows 7 disc for free. Does this help?

No but you could get one on EBay (it's not the disk you pay for, but the
Licence) or find a friend with the same version and make a copy...

Yeah, you can download it from www.newegg.com for $90 plus shipping and
handling. That's what happens when you lose your software.

How would that help someone studying MCDSt in XP????????

Err would you like to post the DOWNLOAD link on that site?

NewEgg will "selling" you a new copy. Not sure if the sale will
include a download or they will ship the XP as a package.

I think you'll find it's a CD. The only place I know of that you can get
Windows by download is MSDN......

Not legally, no.

Is this a legitimate, bought XP license? Do you still have the product
key for it?

When you buy a copy, what you are essentially buying is the license to
use it, and it's the product key that uniquely identifies that
license. So if you have the key, you can borrow and copy a friend's
CD, as long as it matches your key with respect to the following:
whether they are Professional, Home, Media Center; whether they are
OEM or retail; whether they are Full or Upgrade. If it doesn't match
in any of those respects your key won't work with it.

If you have neither a CD nor a key, you're out of luck entirely and
need to buy a new one.

The Newegg download is by the United States Postal Service directly to your
mailbox, not via your ISP to your Windowsbox.

well, it is a good idea to have a xp cd for a variety of
reason, not just for experimenting during the course
of your studies.

what I suggest is to first find out what the product key
is to the o.s. you have installed at this time.

you can use a freeware called "SIW" to scan your registry
for the product keys.

next I would review this for help with a replacement:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246

-----------------------

there is yet another option if you ascertain your product
key.

you might be able to do a repair install with a borrowed
xp cd.

use its product key to complete the task.

then once windows is installed, replace that product key
with the one you previously acquired.

And this requires XP and can't be done under a free Windows 7 disc?

If you are studying the XP certificate, yes.....
