I am working in a small office of about 10 computers. Server has
Windows 2000 Server, most work stations are XP Pro. But this new laptop
I'm trying to get connected to the network is XP Home.

I am trying to map a network drive to a folder on the server. When I
browse for a folder to connect to, I can see the icon for the Workgroup
that I want. But when I hit the + sign to try to see the individual
computers in the workgroup, the computer works for about 15 seconds and
then doesn't show anything.

I have checked the Computer Name to make sure that it matches the User
I setup for it on the server, and it does. There are already 10
computers connected and working on this network just fine. I just can't
get this one!

Any ideas on what to try?

This is frequently caused by a misconfigured or overlooked personal firewall, or
other security component. There are several other possibilities too, and any
might be the cause of your problem. Read this article with an open mind.

Take a look at "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and
"net config workstation", from the problem computer, and from one properly
working computer, and diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked
articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!):
