Windows XP client SBS server

We are having problems with XP cients opening files slowly
and delays on logging in.

Both clients and servers are at latest SP and updated
security patches.

I have looked at KB article which suggested updates above.

Any Suggenstions please?

Are the clients members of the domain? If so are they configured to use the
DNS server that contain the AD DNS records?
