Yes, if you open a Cmd prompt window and call Winver, the
system with Sp3 will identify itself as:
Version 5.0 ( Build 2600.xpsp_sp3 ....
system with Sp3 will identify itself as:
Version 5.0 ( Build 2600.xpsp_sp3 ....

I'm not certain but, I believe that the basic version number of Windows XP
is 5.1.2600 and then the various service packs add on numbers to that i.e.:
2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236 (service pack 3). Check out the version
numbers of the majority of files in your system32 folder. You will find
that most of them have the number 2600 in them. This refers to the fact that
they belong to XP. (If I am wrong about this, somebody please let me know)

Nothing to do with SP3, it's XP's RTM build number.

Yes, that was what I was trying to convey. The "2222" was not present
in the original post, but I wasn't sure if "2222" was indeed the final
version.

Yes, when I look at the post on the NG it isn't in the list, but if I look
at the source of my post (as I sent it) it is - very weird.
