WIndows XP and VNC

I am having trouble accessing a remote notebook using Windows XP and VNC. I
am able to gain a connection to the notebook and am able to ping it but am
unable to get a vnc session established - a message comes up saying vnc
server is unavailable.

Any help will be gratefully welcome.

I have no idea if it is your problem or not but VNC will NOT work if you
have UDP traffic blocked by a firewall.
