Would anyone please tell me the pro and con of windows XP and Vista, a
comparison if you could.

I need to buy a laptop, am not sure which one I should purchase,
Windows XP professional or Vista business.
thanks

My opinion? If the laptop has less than a Gig of RAM, stick with XP Pro.
One Gig or more, go with Vista.

eveery upgrade to windows is more idiot proof than its predessecor. Windows
95 was a major upgrade to windows 3.1, windows 98se finally got all the
things straightened-out that were promised in windows 95. ME was just a face
lift to 98se; didn't really have anything new, just a new look and more
headaches. Windows xp had few nice surprises. As I said each upgrade to
windows is more idiot proof. So far the only difference that I've noticed in
vista is th security center, It's more strict in vista. The gadgets are a fun
add-on. Some say it's faster, more powerful, I just don't see it. If you're
buying a new system and everything, then go with vista. If your budget is
tight (ie. colledge or something) go with xp. There's really not any
difference.

windows 2000 Professional was, and still is, a brilliant OS, used by Banks
and businesses throughout the world.
you forgot that OS!

Generally, Windows Vista requires more resources than Windows XP. If you are
a budget user, you can still stick with Windows XP while it is still around.
However, there is no doubt about it that Windows XP is just old and not as
features-rich as Windows Vista. You are running Windows XP, aren't you? How
old your computer is? If you bought it recently, you can consider about
Windows Vista, or else, just stick with Windows XP.

When a pc seems to run "fine" with Windows XP, it may run sluggishly with
Windows Vista if the specs is not poweful enough. Change in Windows Vista is
quite radical. Indeed, you have to get learn how to use Windows again. Please
don't try the way you use Windows XP on Windows Vista. If you finally how to
use Windows Vista, you'll love it. It is quite a decent OS. Fortunately,
Windows Vista is designed to more user-friendly. Learning how to use it is
not that hard.

I am now using Windows Vista Home Premium for more than a month. I did not
use Windows XP and see no reason to use it again. My old PC is more than two
years. As a PC enthusiast, instead of just buying the Windows Vista, I bought
a new computer with Windows Vista preinstalled. It just run fine. I certainly
face no problem with Windows Vista Home Premium. It is quite good. You can
check out the feautures of Windows Vista on Microsoft website. Don't ever
believe what Microsoft says about the minimun or recommended requirements.
Just think that they are just joking. Do you really think you can run Windows
Vista flawlessly with 512MB of ram? To harness the its power, you need decent
hardwares. Don't try to blame Microsoft at first if you face any problems.
You have to find out in what condition Windows Vista will work well by
yourself. Well, internet provide many resources.
