an old DOS game.

Sort of correct.
Windows XP does not have a 16 bit sub-system known as DOS. It does have a
DOS emulator.
It doesn't "have NT", I am not even sure what that means. It does have an
upgraded NT Kernel, the meat and potatoes of the OS.

While you are correct that the DOS emulator does not work as it did in
Windows 9x/ME - this is again because it is just a DOS emulator and not true
16 bit DOS. With the compatability wizrd, you can get most older DOS
applications to work properly. There will be some you will not be able to
get to work.

You can either setup a seperate DOS partition, boot into DOS using a boot
disk, etc to play games you cannot get to work.

I'm curious. Did you just learn this or have you known for about 2 years,
which is the length of time since the release of Windows XP Home Edition?
