How can I tell if I have Windows XP Home Edition 32-bit or
Windows XP Home Edition 64-bit so I can download the new
security software?

You have the 32bit edition. There is no such animal as a Windows XP Home
Edition 64 bit. The 64 bit version is only available in the XP Pro
version.

You have the 32-bit version. The 64-bit version only comes in the
Professional edition. Moreover, even if you had Professional,
anyone who has to ask is running the 32-bit version. The 64-bit
edition requires special hardware, and very few home users have
it.
