I have built a new system, installed windows and it keeps
restarting. I have tried the hdd in another system and it
boots. Could it be a problem when it tries to inialize
the graphics card? The motherboard is MSI 865PE with a
Gforce4 440MX card. I know this is just for windows but I
have no idea on what to do. Also Boot loging does not
seem to work, does anyone have a fix?

Thanks in advance

Try booting into Xp in Safe Mode. Keep pressing F8 while booting then you
will get a bootmenu. Select Safe Mode. Go into Control Panel and see if
there are any conflicts with devices.

First, be sure your antivirus software has the latest definitions and run a
virus scan.

Download, run and install Ad Aware:
www.lavasoftusa.com

If your system is clear of viruses, open Control Panel, open System, go to
the Advanced tab, click Settings under Startup and Recovery, remove the
check from "Automatically Restart" under System Failure. This will cause
the system to blue screen instead of restarting on errors and the
information on the blue screen may give a clue as to the source of the
issue.

Open Control Panel, open Administrative Tools, open Event Viewer, look for
errors corresponding to the crash, double click the error, the information
contained within may give a clue as to the
source of the problem.

Assuming you have an XP CD and not a recovery CD, place the XP CD in the
drive, when the setup screen appears, select "Check System Compatibility,"
the report it generates may point to problem hardware or software on your
system. If you do not have an XP CD, you can download this application
known as the Upgrade Advisor from the following site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/howtobuy/upgrading/advisor.asp
Note: If you have access to a broadband connection it might be best to
download using that as this is a rather large download.

Check for the latest drivers for your hardware, especially your graphics
card and soundcard and all peripherals connected to your system. No not use
Windows Update for this, go to the device manufacturer's web sites and if
you install updated drivers, ignore the message about drivers being unsigned
by Microsoft.

umm have u checked all the bios settings are good ? boot
order, also XP seems to have some problems with various
power saving profiles - especially on boards supporting
RAID

I had same problem as you ( new system, same configuration: board and
videocard)
I will tell you what worked for me and may be you find it useful:
1. Testing memory discovered one chip is malfunctioning ( replaced by
salesman )
2. Board replaced too after checking in lab ( voltage should be 12V +/- 0.3V
not sure about it but I know board is very sensitive on not proper voltage.)
3. After that windows was re-installed ,I've got sudden reboots about one
per number of days ... untill updated driver for videocard to last version
No problems till now
Good luck
