July 30, auto apdate installed KB867801.
On the restart, Windows XP wont statp up.
"Failed service error" displays and it suts itself off.

July 31, ran the reinstall, after booting from CD.
During the reinstall, program could not determine the type
of PC. I have selected Standard PS option.
Installation went OK. All upgrades were received.
However XP does not recognize PC's ACIP support and does
not turn it off as it used to.
I havr tried to reinstall windows, but now my installation
keys are not good anymore. It thinks it is acompletely new
PC. In addition to this I can not get technical support it
displays number of incidendts exceeded the limit.
Any suggestions to resolve the turn off issue??

Thanks

Boot to setup CD, run setup, and remove/replace the partition, then continue setup with the HAL you need for your system to do ACPI.
