My hard drive got problems, so system files could not be
read. It might caused by some sector failure or virus.
I tried to format it from another computer.
I received the message:

Windows was unable completer the format.

I find all the folder still there, nothing be erased.

any idea

Thanks

Hi Chang,

Try format /X and test to see if you can format the volume. Or, you can go
to the Disk Management console and delete the partition on the volume and
recreate it.

Thanks Ken,

I tried both of then
1)I tried format /X, It seems go through, but after format,
I found all the previous folders and files still there.

2) I tried delete partition with Disk Management console
and recreate partition, but it said format was
unseccessful. Now the folders and files are gone.
but cannot format it.

From a Command Prompt you can use the DELPART command to set the partitions and then FORMAT

But I tried it in 2 computers, both of them said:
'DELPART' is not recognized as an internal or external
command, operatble program or batch file.
