Windows wants to format my drive before I can open it

I have a second hardrive that I save all my data in, and all of the sudden
today I can't open it? Window asks me to format , and It have files on it I
really need.
How do I access it without formatting it??

what's the filesystem of that second hardrive?
 
It doesn't show a file system now....It was NTSF . I had it partitioned & the
other partion is still intacted. It was also NTSF

you mean NTFS... i don't see any reason for windows do not read an ntfs
partition, unless it has been corrupted or that disk is damaged.

BING!!
Sounds like it went bad. Now you know what backups are for.

You may want to try running some disk repair apps on it and see if they can
recover anything but you will most likely have to re format it sooner or
later if you plan on using it again.
