I have installed Vista and cannot get it to accept internet pages. Even
msn.com is not accepted. It shows the coonection but fails to load. Downlaods
from updates loaded ok though. What setting is not allowing me access. I can
also ping all neccesary gateways and servers ok

Are you using a router?

If so, go into the router's settings and look for Firewall
settings- it may be listed as "Firewall" or SPI. You still
have some good protection being behind the router because
of NAT.

Depending on your router. 192.168.1.1 , 192.168.2.1
typed into IE's address bar, should get you to the settings.
Your router will have to restart.

In case I wasn't very clear- *Disable* the firewall or
SPI (stateful packet inspection) in your router's settings.
