I am trying to log a problem with Microsoft and they require a product Id for
Vista, the System Properties screen shows that "Windows is activated" and
also shows "Product ID: Not Available". Tried using my CD Key but that does
not work. Ran the Genuine Advantage Check which my system passed. How do I
find the product ID?

It can take several seconds for all information to appear on that
page.
Try rebooting if the status does not change.

Also, except for very specific issues such as Windows/Microsoft
Update, Microsoft will not support OEM Windows issues.
If that is the case, you may need to contact the OEM.

I was directed to the appropriate registery key where the Product Id was
stored.
FYI it is HKLM\software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion:ProductID

I can't get on my computer with Vista because Vista is hung up. I too needed
to provide a product id for help (on my other computer with XP). When I
clicked on "how to find your product id", it told me I wasn't eligible to
view that page. One of the possible reasons it gave was that I wasn't signed
in, but I was already signed in, password and all. The Microsoft website is
awfully difficult to successfully navigate, I think. And since I'm not that
computer savvy, I really don't know how to utilize the previous answers, if
it's even possible from another computer. Help?
